HIGH SCHOOL CLUBS
The following clubs are currently being offered at Oak Ridge High School. We encourage our students to join clubs and activities to meet others with similar interests and make the most out of their time at Oak Ridge. Get involved, be an officer, or even start a club of your own!
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Mission Statement: To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Science (FACS) education. Focusing on multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development; creative and critical thinking; interpersonal communications; practical knowledge; and vocational preparation.
Goals: To provide opportunities for development and preparation for adult life; to strengthen the function of the family as a basic unit of society; to encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community; to encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony; to promote greater understanding between youth and adults; to provide opportunities for making decisions and assuming responsibilities; to provide for the multiple roles of men and women in today’s society; and to promote family and consumer sciences and related occupations.
Activities Sponsored: Attend regional meeting; STAR events, state leadership meeting; fall leadership conference; and FCCLA Week
Contests: Local-member with the most activity points receives FCCLA award; Regional, State, and National “STAR events” competitions.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Mission Statement: The FCA mission on the Oak Ridge Campus is to include all students, athlete or not, and disciple them….lead them in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and their church.
Activities Sponsored: See you at the Pole, Fields of Faith, devotions every other Wednesday, with planned JH and HS wide activities in the future, such as movie night.
Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Future Teachers of America (FTA)
Mission Statement: To develop future teachers and help students discover their potential as teachers and leaders. Goals: To help prepare our students for some of the responsibilities a teacher may face in the teaching profession
Activities Sponsored: Trash pick-up along Highway E, plan events for American Education Week, backstage help for annual Elementary Christmas Program, help with annual Elementary Play Day, help with Halloween parties in the elementary, and be teacher aides in the elementary and other needed areas, attend district and state conventions.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Mission Statement: To promote business education classes while building student leadership skills, business-related skills, and citizenship in the school and community.
Goals: To develop competent, aggressive, business leadership; strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work; create more interest and understanding of American business enterprise; encourage members in the development of individual projects which contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community; develop character, prepare for useful citizenship, and foster patriotism; encourage and practice efficient money management; encourage scholarship and promote school loyalty; assist students in the establishment of occupational goals; and facilitate the transition from school to work.
Activities Sponsored: Career shadowing, March of Dimes, Installation Ceremony, Camp Enterprise (local Rotary Club sponsored), Ronald McDonald House Charity and Career Fair.
Fundraisers: Merchandise sales to support club-sponsored activities.
Contests: District, state, and national business skills competitions.
National Honor Society (NHS)
Mission Statement: To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and develop character in the students of Oak Ridge High School. Goals: To help foster growth and strive for excellence in academics, service, leadership and the development of character for the future.
Activities Sponsored: Trash pickups, fundraisers, Operation Christmas Child, canned food drive, induction ceremony. Fundraisers vary, but the money raised is used for the induction ceremony and annual convention.
Pep Club
Mission Statement:
To promote school spirit and enthusiasm for all high school athletic events. Goals: To increase school spirit for all students at Oak Ridge High School.
Activities Sponsored: Pep rallies, Spirit Week, and other activities as needed.
Student Council
Mission Statement:
To provide leadership and school spirit to the student body by promoting various activities and community service projects.
Goals: To get students involved in school activities and promote school spirit at the school and in the community. Activities Sponsored: Blood drive, school marques, needy family project, school supply donations, Buckle Up project and District STUCO Meeting.
Fundraisers: Dances, Blue Jay pins, and pie bake sale–funds used for national dues, activities and for a needy family project.

Yearbook
The main purpose of the Yearbook is to produce the school’s annual yearbook, Charter Oak. With this goal in mind, members who join the Yearbook team will be taught basic lessons in photography, writing, editing and electronic layouts. These skills are used when creating the yearbook and school newsletter for the school year.
